About

Hey! Since we're going to be besties, I should probably tell you a little about myself...

I'm Sierra and I'm 26 years old. And I plan on staying 26 for at least the next decade. #iwish

I grew up in on the mean streets (jk) of Australia and moved to Utah, USA when I was 16. There's never a better time for a major life change than when you're a moody, self-conscious, braces-clad teenager, amiright?

I met my husband, John, when I was 17-years-old. I was not a girl, not yet a woman (Britney Spears reference. Always a winner.) It was intense-crush-at-first-sight. For me at least. As my husband so eloquently says, he thought of me as "jail-bait." When I was 19 and in college, we went on our first date and after a year of sorta long distance dating (medium distance dating?), we both put a ring on it (aka got married.) Best decision I've ever made.

Ever a lover of drama, I gave birth to our first daughter the week before my last finals week of college. And yep, I still took all those finals. 'Cause I'm a little bit crazy. Eve is now a spunky little four-year-old who has also developed a penchant for the dramatic. Tantrum city over here. But she's also extremely smart and often very sweet and helpful.

In 2015, Lily joined our family. Lily is now two-years-old and talks as well as any three-year-old. The sentences that come out of such a tiny girl are both impressive and hilarious. One minute she will be giving everyone the sweetest hugs and professing her love, and the next minute she will be ripping out chunks of Eve's hair. There's a lot of screaming and crying in our house. Mainly coming from me.

In April of this year, Violet, our littlest lady made her appearance. The first thing anyone says when they see her is, "Wow, she has a lot of hair!" Despite a couple of cranky months, this sweetheart is all smiles and coos. She loves her sisters and her sisters are equally infatuated.

This blog is the tiny piece of the internets that helps me keep my sanity. I'm a pretty firm believer in finding some way to focus on yourself a little when you're a mother. Because mother burnout is a real and ever-present danger. And a burned out mama is a cranky, yelling, impatient mama.

On this space I share real things, pretty things, and really pretty silly things. And now I feel like Dr. Seuss. I share mother-related fashion, beauty, and fitness tips. I have a degree in Exercise Science, so I like to think my tips are somewhat legit.

So, future bestie, feel free to follow along for a glimpse at my perfectly imperfect life. I'll try to keep things entertaining.

***This blog has changed names from Life As a Waterleaf to Sierra Elizabeth and now to The Violet Eve. Can you tell that I change my mind a lot? One of the reasons I'm never getting a tattoo***
