More Emerald Love

My love of emerald is still going strong.
I found this gorgeous shade of nail polish at the end of last year and thought it would be fun to wear around Christmas time. Then I found out that this year's color of the year was emerald and I was glad to have even more of a reason to wear this color.
I bought it at Walmart for $1.99. It's not the highest quality polish that you can buy, but it's not terrible.

Polka Dots, Purple Pants, and Graduation

Sorry for being MIA for the past week or so. I had a final and four papers to write so blogging had to take a back seat. Now it's over though! I've finished my last class! Woo!

On a different note, I love colored pants. Well, maybe it's a love-hate relationship. I think they are so cute but I also think that they can be pretty unflattering. The lighter colors seem to be harder to pull off unless you are pretty dang thin. I feel like these purple pants are dark enough for this to not be an issue. Once I'm down to my pre-baby weight I'm going to reward myself by buying some fun, light colored pants. Probably mint. Yep, definitely mint.

The Keys to Dieting

I've never been a fan of fad diets. Cutting out an essential part of the diet, such as carbs or fat, never seemed like a good idea to me. If you try a diet in which you have to drastically alter what you eat, you're probably not going to stick to it. You can't keep not eating carbs forever.

20 Minute Workout: Arms and Chest

Okay, I know it's not Wednesday today. I tried my best to get this done yesterday but this week I had a sick husband to take care of, a 4-month-old to take care of, a paper to write, and issues with my photo editing program. So, Wellness Wednesday is on Thursday this week.

I came up with a workout to tone and strengthen the arms and chest. It's a circuit workout which means that it provides both cardio and strength benefits.

This workout can be as intense as you want it to be. I allocated 1 minute to do as many repetitions of each exercise as possible. If you want a less intense workout, do less repetitions and take more rests between the exercises. You can also perform the different push-ups on your knees if you're not ready for full-on push-ups.

If you would like to increase the difficulty of these exercises, simply slow your repetitions down.

If you have any questions about this workout, leave a comment below or email me at!

Letters to Eve: 4 Months

Neon Pink + Pearls

I absolutely love how comfortable this outfit is. The pink button up is really soft and leggings always equal comfort. Even the boots are great despite having a heel. I can walk in these shoes for hours without my feet complaining.

You may notice that Eve is looking down in both of the pictures of her. The only picture we took where she wasn't looking down was one with her eyes closed! Apparently Eve hasn't developed photo etiquette yet. Also, concrete must be a lot more interesting than I've been giving it credit for.

On a side note, Eve turned four months old on Thursday! She's only in the 25th percentile for weight (which she has been since she was born) but she's up to the 75th percentile for height! At her 2 month check up she had been in the 45th percentile for height. Apparently she's just doing all her growing in an upward direction. Those cheeks are still getting chubbier every day though.

A couple of days ago, I gave my cute little sister, Summer, a makeover. It's always fun to make someone feel pretty and give them a little confidence boost.
I think that Summer was pretty happy with the results! She asked for a copy of all the pictures so that she could put some on Facebook.

I filmed the makeover and sped it up into a time lapse! You can watch it at the bottom of this post! It looks especially cool toward the end of the video when I apply the eye makeup.

Summer has gorgeous green eyes and I decided to enhance this with the eye makeup. As you probably know, purple really makes green eyes pop so I used a purple smokey eye on Summer.
I did a little highlighting and contouring to emphasize her cheekbones and to give her face a glowing look.
I also reshaped her brows and filled them in. You can see how much of a difference this makes in the pictures below.

The Basics of Weight Loss

There are a hundreds of different weight loss programs and diets out there. The issue is that many of these only work for a select few people and if they do work, they are usually only a temporary solution. Most people regain the weight they have lost because they haven't made lifestyle changes which they can maintain.

Today, I want to share with you some basics of weight loss that will lead to a successful weight loss program for anyone.
The key is making maintainable, healthy changes to your lifestyle..

How often should I work out?
5 days per week!
This is the goal you should be shooting for. It will bring you the most health benefits and will increase your chances of becoming thin and staying that way.
If you have been inactive this is going to be too much for you at first. Start out at 3 days per week and progress to 5.

How long should I work out?
60 minutes!
If you are working out 5 days a week, you should do 60 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per workout session.
If you have been inactive you should start at 15-20 minutes and gradually increase to 60 minutes.

Black and White

Here's my first outfit post with our new camera! It takes gorgeous pictures! I can't tell you how excited I am to use it!
I love pairing black and white with red lips. It just makes the look a little more interesting. I also love incorporating gold jewelry with black and white looks as well. I'm a little sad that the weather is getting too warm to wear cardigans. They're just about my favorite thing to wear in the fall and winter.
Eve looked so gorgeous in her cute flowery outfit. She just gets cuter and cuter every day.
