Giraffes and Ripped Jeans

I bought these jeans from Forever 21 knowing very well that they weren't going to last. They were only $7.80 after all. I'm no dummy, I knew the quality would be pretty poor. Since I had just had a baby I didn't need them to last, though. I just needed them until I'd lost some more weight. I was warned about putting them in the dryer and avoided doing so but my helpful hubby helped with laundry a couple of times and put them in without realizing the problem. So they have become shorter. Another turn in there and they will be unwearable. So, realizing that these jeans are on their last legs, both because I've lost more weight and because they're not holding up well, I decided to experiment with them. I've been dying to buy a pair of jeans with ripped knees but have been holding off until my weight stabilizes. Then I realized that I could make some myself fairly easily. So I took a pair of scissors and a thread unpicker to these jeans and spiced them up a little. Now that I've tried the technique out on this cheap pair of jeans, I'd be willing to try it on other pairs too. I also want to try other forms of distressing, such as exposing the white threads in different areas and creating holes and putting lace patches underneath. Some thrift shopping may be called for to pick up some experimental jeans.

Almost every day Eve asks me to take her to the park to see her friends. But by friends she really just means other kids. As soon as she sees another little boy or girl at the park, she runs up to them and says, "Hi, friend!" She makes a new little buddy every time we go. Yesterday she befriended two little girls who were four and five years old. The ran all over the playground, calling each other by name and warning each other of the danger of tigers. They would take turns being in charge, telling the other two which way to go to avoid the danger. It was adorable to watch and it made me proud that Eve can interact so well with kids a few years older than her. Although it did remind me that she's growing up so fast and that's just scary. Can't she just be my cute little two-year-old forever?

  5. Aw Eve's litter personality is so adorable. (: My daughter just smiles and waves at kids but awkward stands there. She is only one, but it's funny to me. I kinda think destressing jeans yourself is one of the best ways to go. Not only do you get to control where the rough edges are, but you can justify the $8 pair of jeans. (;

  6. Great idea to try and distress jeans that you will not need anymore. I don't know why I've never thought to try and distress my own jeans.
