Sequins, Migraines, and Tiny Cousins
On my twelfth birthday, I opened up two packages containing sequin embellished cardigans. One hot pink, the other purple. Thinking myself far too mature for sequins and bright colors, I asked my mom if I could start picking out my own clothes. Because apparently my twelve year old self was a little rude too. She hadn't quite learned that there is a time and a place to say these things. Tact, Sierra, tact. The funny this is that now I'm all about the sequins. True, hot pink and sequins is a more daring combination than I would usually go for. I love how the sequin embellishment is fairly subtle on this tank but that it still makes a statement. This outfit would be fairly boring without it. Nice, but boring. The sequins make the difference. I bet my twelve-year-old self never thought I would say that

We've been in St. George with family for the past few days. It's been a lot of fun, apart from the excruciatingly painful migraine I had a couple of days ago. When I was younger and would get a migraine, I would always feel like I couldn't take it anymore. I would even start to consider knocking myself out. Now, though, after having two children (and one of those being pretty close to naturally), I realize that this is pain I can handle. Childbirth, not so much. Migraines are more of a 7 on the scale, not a 10.
There have been plenty of cute cousin interaction since we've been here. Eve has loved being around her two-year-old, three-year-old, and five-year-old cousins. There certainly has been a good deal of fighting over toys but there have been some peaceful moments too. Like when Eve and Henry ate giant popsicles together outside, when Eve and Ila sat in the tub for over an hour, having a tea party and playing with toy animals, and when Eve and Hailey both stopped in their tracks to give each other a big bear hug. There was also a group assault made on their youngest Uncle where they jumped on him, chased him, punched him, all while constantly giggling. And we're still going to be here for a couple of days so more cute and hilarious antics are bound to happen.
Other ways I've worn: beige-purple blazer

DeleteAh, the things kids say! I'm sure I said a lot of rude things to my mom as a kid and I'm pretty sure it's all full circle now as my kids say those things to me! At any rate, love the soft, neutral tones paired with the black skirt and glad you are having a great time in St. George despite the migraine!
