Cape Blazers: The Sleeveless Wonders

Do you have a flair for the dramatic and a secret desire to resemble a superhero? Well, do I have the blazer for you! Cape blazers provide all the chicness of a regular blazer with all the pizazz of a caped crusader. As soon as one of these babies is atop your shoulders, you'll notice an insistent desire to perch on a rooftop overlooking the city or to stride confidently around in a pair of knee-high pleather boots.

But seriously, this cape blazer is pretty fantastic. As much as I love blazers, and I own about a dozen of them, the one thing I don't appreciate is their restrictiveness. You don't often see someone in a blazer doing yoga, ballet, or aerobics. And I'm sure the one and only reason (other than the plethora of other reasons) is that it is approximately five billion times more difficult to raise your arms above your head wearing one of those shoulder constrictors.

Enter the cape blazer. In a world of range-of-motion reducing jackets, this sleeveless wonder is a welcome deviation from the norm. Its sleevelessness also makes it completely suitable for warmer weather. And as a girl who loves her layers and experiences layer withdrawal for half the year, this pleases me immensely.

Now I realize that I purchased my cape blazer on the cusp of summer's completion so this benefit won't help me for long. But I know I still won't regret my purchase with the impending decrease in temperature.  You know why? Because this structured, shoulder-padded beauty will pair perfectly with... a turtleneck! And if you read this post then I'm sure you can understand why I'm more than a little enthusiastic about that.

  9. I feel like I've always wanted a cape coat. A big thick wool one in either navy or green. Yet I have no idea if I could actually pull it off. Who knows, maybe I'll feel like Wonder woman myself? (;
