Pink Plaid and a Valentine's Day Recap

So no, this is not my only plaid shirt. Did I absolutely need another one? Not at all. But the gorgeous colors of this plaid tunic were irresistible. My local Target had them strategically placed in a little Valentine's Day section at the front of the men's clothing area. So they caught me by surprise. And then there was only one left in my size and I figured it was fate. How could I say no to fate? Not only would this top be perfection for Valentine's Day but it also screams spring to me. And I am so ready for spring. So, wielding a variety of justifications, I took my cart through the check out and never looked back.

For the moms who want a more everyday look, or those who are opposed to leather leggings and heels, here is a variation of this outfit for you:

This look is what I wore for my Valentine's date with the hubby. We celebrated on Saturday by going to brunch at a Belgian cafe in Salt Lake called Bruges Waffles and Frites. Their fries are my kryptonite. John went to Belgium on his mission so it's fun to go there together. We tried some new things on the menu, decided the quality wasn't what it used to be, cried a little (well maybe some fake sobbing on my part,) still ate more than we should, and then rolled our waffle and fry stuffed bodies over to City Creek for some shopping. Here is a completely legitimate and in no way photoshopped picture of us at Bruges:

Why John was in short sleeves and carrying a map of a corn maze, I will never know...

While shopping, I helped John pick out some Valentine's presents for me because that's how we roll. We both like to pick our own presents, or to at least give each other a wish list that we can pick from. We figure it's not worth spending the money on something we might only partially like. Yes, it takes away the surprise but the fun of hanging out with John while we're shopping makes up for it. If you follow me on Instagram you'll have already seen what he bought me. For those of you without instagram, I'll be featuring the gifts in an outfit post later this week. And now, for your viewing pleasure, here's an even more legit pic of us at City Creek:

It was surprisingly dark for midday and John still refused to put down that corn maze map, but hey, we still had a fun time.

*Disclaimer: both of those pictures are completely false and horrifically photoshopped for the purposes of humor. If this did not amuse you in the slightest, I apologize profoundly. But not really, because if that offended you that's ridiculous.*
