The One Where I Wear a Turtleneck Under a Dress

As you may already be aware, I'm a lover of turtlenecks. As such, I've been pushing myself to try new ways to style them. I've worn them with skirts, under blazers, under sweaters, and under ponchos. After seeing turtlenecks worn under dresses during runway shows, I decided I wanted to try that too. Yesterday was the day I finally did it. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the results of this little experiment. Maybe it's just that I don't love this dress. I love the print but the length and fit bother me a little. But I can't expect too much from a dress that I bought at H&M for $5 because the print worked for an instagram challenge...

I've always avoided wearing shirts under spaghetti strapped items, well, at least during my older teenage and adult years. However, I think this look works a little better with a turtleneck. It makes it look a little more sophisticated than it otherwise would.

At any rate, it's fun to try new looks. Maybe the turtleneck-dress combo isn't for me, or maybe I just need to find the right dress to pull this look off.

What do you think of a turtleneck-dress combination? Have you every worn it?

  1. I think this look is so fun! Whereas I'm more of a cowl (did I spell that correctly) neck type of gal, I think this gives a cute school girl vibe. Like you said, in a sophisticated sense. Plus, you're taking a summer dress and giving it some love during the cooler months. Stretching your wardrobe in any way you can is always an accomplishment in my book! (:
