Summer Bottom-Half Wear and Other Made Up Terms
As summer rapidly approaches and temperatures have been slowly creeping upward, a looming thought has been in my mind: my days of wearing long pants are numbered. For some, this may be no big deal but for those of us who prefer to not show off a lot of leg, choosing... bottom-half wear... can be a daunting task. I can't help but glare darkly at the drawer of my dresser that conceals my bermuda shorts. They're comfortable and close to knee length but terribly unflattering. Yet summer after sweltering summer, I find myself caving and wearing them. But this year will be different. This year I will not resort to wearing shorts that make my thighs look twice their size. But stores are not out there to help me. It's difficult to find anything that reaches past mid-thigh. But I shall not be deterred.
So the momsemble shown above is was created with this issue in mind. A much better option for knee-length coverage is a knit skirt. While I love pencil skirts, an a line skirt is more forgiving and gives you more mobility. Hence, it is much more active-mom-friendly. To make the look a little more casual, I chose some simple jewelry, a basic tee, and flats. A pair of cute flat sandals would casualify the look even more.
And now I'm thinking that I need to make a fashion dictionary page. For the excellent terms I create such as bottom-half wear, casualify, etc. The fact that they originate from me being too lazy to think of an actual word in no way decreases their awesomeness...
And I suppose I should explain that Eve insisted upon wearing a dress-up from her grandma's house instead of her normal clothes. But hey, that dress totally put her in a fierce, modeling mood, so the pictures probably turned out better anyway.
