Letters to Lily: Two Months

*Sorry for the lack of outfit posts over the past few days. I got my wisdom teeth out on Friday so I haven't been up for getting dressed up and taking pictures. I also thought I'd spare you from seeing my chipmunky face. Even though it's super attractive. I just wouldn't want to make anyone jealous ;)*

Dear Lily,

Somehow another month has passed! It feels like you've been with us for longer than two months. I guess that's because you fit into our family so naturally.

You are just the sweetest little girl. Your colicky stage seems to be mostly behind you. Now I can actually put you down and you're happy to just hang out for a while. You love to be put under lighting fixtures so that you can stare up at them. Our chandelier is your favorite, of course.

You give the best smiles. I'm always excited for you to finish eating because as soon as you're done you just smile away. You love to smile up at me and have a little conversation for a few minutes. You make a little cooing noise and then wait for me to reply. You seem to especially like it when I copy the sounds that you make.

I can tell that you're going to be a busy little girl just like your older sister. You always want to face outward when I hold you so that you can see everything. You also like to stand on my lap which involves lots of wiggling and bobbing due to your lack of muscle control.

It looks like you are going to have blue eyes like your sister, too. They're getting lighter and lighter. I'm a little surprised that neither of you have gotten my dark hazel eyes. I know it makes sense genetically, but it still surprised me anyway.

You're already a bit of a difficult eater. You have to eat just the right amount or you projectile vomit everything up. This means that you tend to eat small amounts pretty frequently throughout the day. I find that I have to feed you once an hour.

You are an excellent sleeper at night. Almost every night you will sleep for at least six hours straight. Then you feed and go right back to sleep for another few hours. It is absolutely fantastic. I remember having to stay up with Eve in the middle of the night trying to get her to go back to sleep. It was the most frustrating part about having a newborn. I love my sleep so thank you for not depriving me of it.

During the day you don't sleep as well. You tend to take small little naps lasting 15-30 minutes. I guess that's just the price I have to pay for you sleeping so well at night.

I love you so much! I love cuddling you, kissing you, and talking to you. You are so sweet and I'm so lucky to be your mother.

Love, Mom

  1. Ah, feel better! I had my wisdom teeth taken out years ago and it was awful. This is such a sweet post! Your little Lily is so adorable and it's such a nice idea to write a letter to her each month. She'll really enjoy it one day!
