Furry Sweaters and Thigh-High Boots

Thigh-high boots. It seems like you either love them or hate them. A couple of years ago, I thought they would only work with short skirts because I assumed they were too tight to wear with anything other than tights underneath them. It wasn't long before I saw them styled with leggings and skinny jeans and I realized that they were something I might be able to pull off. As much as I wanted a pair, I knew that the key to this look was to invest in a high quality pair. The higher the quality, the better the fit, and the less trashy they'd seem. I'm not talking about Stuart Weitzman quality (that's way out of my price range) but more in the Steve Madden range.

Living in a single income household with little kids, my big purchases only ever come at Christmas and my birthday. And since those both fall in winter, I always felt it was too late in the season to invest in boots. However, this year, I decided to go for it. I used my birthday money to buy a pair that was on sale for $50 off and I'm glad I did.

For date night, I styled mine with this cute, fluffy sweater from Shein. Thigh-high boots are overtly sexy, so I paired them with something a little more girly and less shape-hugging to soften the look.

Here are the best things about thigh-high boots:
1. They can spice up the most basic of outfits
2. They're leg lengthening
3. They're leg warming
4. They're sexy... yep, I already mentioned that but it deserved repeating

What do you think about thigh-high boots? Cool or do they come to close to Pretty Woman territory?

  1. I love the way you paired these boots with a fluffy sweater. It really does tone the boots down and make them look perfect for a casual day. I don't have any thigh high boots, but it's mainly because I would also want to invest in a more expensive pair. And I just haven't been able to bring myself to take the plunge yet!

  2. I, like you have invested on a pair of OTK boots. Mine are a black leather but I would love to own some in real suede (soft suede) in either brown, taupe or gray. Love your boots and that sweater. And aren't those Loren Hope Earrings stunning? I wore them in my latest two posts. I have the fuchsia pair and I love them.

  5. I'm obsessed with them! I saved for so many months to get the Stuart Weitzman's, and while I'm in LOVE with them I kinda wish I bought these instead. They look identical! So so good on you, your legs are itty bitty!

  6. Steve Madden is totally my go to brand for feeling fancy, but not racking up some stupid credit card debt. Plus, DSW always has killer deals on the brand. You definitely pull more sophisticated than Pretty Woman, so no worries there. You literally have no idea how much I relate to your blog. You keep it so real!
