Making the Case for White Sneakers

Here's a momsemble that I'll probably be wearing on repeat. Well, if not the whole look, at least the shoes. It's great when a trend comes along that is casual and comfortable. That's why I love the sneakers trend. Especially the white sneakers trend. When I noticed celebrities wearing them, I was hoping they would be lasting trend. And yep, they've been in for a few seasons now and seem to be staying a while.

Here is my case for why they are some of the best shoes to own at the moment:

1. The light color of the shoe will elongate your legs more than a dark pair. That's because there is a less distinct ending to your legs/feet. I love heels for their extreme leg-lengthening powers, so if a flat pair of shoes can help me a little in this area, I'm all for it.

2. They remind me of simpler times... they remind of sixth grade anyway. As a sixth grader living in Australia, I wore a uniform that consisted of a red polo shirt and a black tennis skirt. I wore more than an acceptable number of butterfly clips in my hair and a pair of white sneakers with three glittery blue stripes. In other words, I was one cool kid. So I suppose I'm especially drawn to this trend thanks to nostalgia.

3. They're wearable. They're not a pair of floral printed pumps that you loved but only ended up wearing twice because they were so hard to style. Sneakers can work with jeans, pencil skirts, midi skirts, and dresses. They easily dress down any outfit while keeping you comfortable and looking chic. I love that I can wear them on any errand and feel like I look good but not feel the slight embarrassment of being overdressed.

4. They're affordable. My pair was less than $60. If you want a pair of Adidas Superstars, they'll be a little closer to $100. Or you can grab a pair of basic ones from H&M for $20. At any rate, it's a much cheaper trend than Valentino Rockstuds. Although I bet there's an $800 pair of white sneakers out there somewhere...
